I feel like I start a lot of blog posts like this, but HOLY WOW! Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, Simone Manuel, and Chloe Kim teamed up to launch "Togethxr" which is a media and sports brand focusing on uplifting the voices of women and telling their stories. This Olympics-winning, star-studded lineup is everything. For those of you that don't know, Sue Bird is the point guard for the WNBA's Seattle Storm, Alex Morgan is a forward for the NWSL's Orlando Pride, Simone Manuel is an Olympic swimmer, and Chloe Kim is an Olympic snowboarder.
"This brand is certainly for this generation, it's for our co-founders and their teammates, and this collective women's sports landscape, but it's really for the next generation," said chief content officer Jessica Robertson. "It's so young girls can see themselves reflected in the stories that we tell, that they have a place to go that feels like they're bigger than themselves, gives them something to aspire to, and to be seen and heard and recognized." This statement is so impactful in trying to inspire the younger generation of women to be involved with sports. This will help to grow the coverage of women's sports and amplify the fight for equality. Women struggle with lack of coverage, representation, and respect in the sports world. This new brand is going to change that by bringing star power and powerful women as the face of the company. There are a lot of existent women's sports media brands (Just Women's Sports and On Her Turf), but they weren't created by female athletes and don't have their platform to attract widespread attention.
When the launch of this brand appeared on my social media feed, I was speechless. Everything about this is so inspiring! I truly can't wait to see what content they bring to the table. I wish I had something like this when I was younger and still playing sports. I truly hope that young women see this and know that they have a place in sports.
