First off, I just have to shout out my team and congratulate the Seattle Storm on winning the the 2020 WNBA title. What a postseason. What a sweep in the finals! The Storm had an absolutely dominant performance, and it was an absolute blast to watch.
This was a season like no other as the WNBA headed down to Florida to play their season in the Wubble. In the midst of a pandemic and increasing social injustices towards Black Americans, players used their platform to promote change that our country needs to see.
The all-star point guard for the Seattle Storm has continued to make history in her 17th season. Drafted 1st overall in the 2002 WNBA draft from UConn, Sue Bird has made a name for herself in basketball. At age 39, she is at the top of her career. In her 4th WNBA finals, she broke the record for the most assists in a finals game (16), most assists in a half of a finals game (10), and being just the third basketball player (NBA and WNBA) to win a championship title in 3 different decades. Talk about an icon. Bird is the exact definition.
Here are some of her accomplishments:
4x WNBA Champion
11x WNBA All-Star
4x Olympic Gold Medalist
5x All-WNBA First Team (2002–2005, 2016)
3x All-WNBA Second Team (2008, 2010, 2011)
3x WNBA assists leader (2005, 2009, 2016)
2x WNBA peak performer (2009, 2016)
WNBA's Top 15 Players of All Time (2011)
WNBA Top 20@20 (2016)
2x NCAA Champion

Bird shows no sign of stopping anytime soon and she keeps getting better and better as time goes on. Her and Breanna Stewart have proven to be a lethal dynamic duo on the court. The Storm are absolutely stacked and next season is going to be just as awesome.
Bird has been one of my favorite athletes (as I'm writing this I'm wearing a t-shirt with her name on it) and it is so inspiring to continue to watch her flourish. I'm still basking in the glory of being WNBA Champs! This was a season for the books!
If you don't already, WATCH WOMEN'S BASKETBALL!!!
