After DePaul had a surge at the end of the 2019-2020 and a chance to play in the postseason, their hopes were crushed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting the season off with a record-breaking 10-0 start had Blue Demon fans psyched for the remainder of the season. After a crash throughout the rest of the season, the Blue Demons finished with an even 16-16 record heading into the Big East Tournament. In the first round, DePaul beat Xavier 71-67, and had their eyes set on the second round before the season was cut short.

Since then, many of the men's team players entered the trade portal. With controversy over Head Coach Dave Leitao and the consistent losing seasons, the hope that DePaul fans had for their men's team was short-lived. From Devin Gage to Flynn Cameron, the Blue Demons have some empty slots to fill. They have signed some new players, but this isn't about that. Amongst all these transfers, Paul Reed (a junior) announced he would cut his collegiate career short and declare for the 2020 NBA Draft. Although I was sad to see to hear this, I was pumped to see where he would end up.

Playing 93 games for the Blue Demons, Reed averaged 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game. Leading the team on and off the court, Reed is destined for success in the NBA.

On November 18th, coming in as the 58th pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Paul Reed from DePaul University.

I am so excited to see what the future holds for Reed, and I can't wait to watch him play pro. It has been a pleasure to watch and photograph Reed for the last couple of years. Congrats, Reed!
