If you don't know who Becky Hammon is, you cannot call yourself a fan of basketball or women's sports.

Here are some of her career highlights as a player:

  • Basketball player in high school, college, and the WNBA

  • Played for both the San Antonio Stars and New York Liberty

  • 6x WNBA All-Star

  • 2x All-WNBA First Team and All-WNBA Second Team

  • WNBA Assist Leader (2007)

  • Recipient of Top 15 WNBA Player (2011) and WNBA Top 20@20 (2016)

  • Bronze medal recipient in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

  • Had her No. 25 retired by the San Antonio Stars

I know what you're thinking - "Wow! That's an extremely impressive resume!" Just wait, it gets better.

In 2014, Hammon became an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs and was just the second woman in NBA history to do just that. Since then, she has been on the forefront for women breaking barriers in sports especially in the NBA. Hammon is also a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and a recipient of the ESPNW's Woman of the Year Award.

In 2015, she became the first woman to be a head coach for the NBA's Summer League. The Spurs won the Las Vegas Summer League title, and Hammon became the first female to win a Summer League title.

In 2016, Hammon became the first female to be part of the coaching team for the NBA All-Star Game.

In 2020, during a game against the Lakers, Spurs Head Coach, Gregg Popovich, ejected. Popovich gave Hammon the nod to finish out the game. With this, she become the very first female to be the head coach of a regular season NBA game.

So, now I hope that you can see how incredible Becky Hammon is. She has been a huge inspiration for me, and I can't wait to see what the future hold for her. Congrats, Becky Hammon on continuing to BREAK BARRIERS and MAKE HISTORY!
